According to Bloomberg, the Blue Point Studio (Bruepoint), which is responsible for the development of the re-programming of Wanda and Mega and The Spirit of Devils, was proposed to Sony last year for a re-program of the Blood Curse. It was surprising, however, that it was not Sony who opposed the proposal, but FromSoftware.

It was revealed that, after being acquired by Sony, the blue dots were involved in the development of a multi-serving ” god of war ” game after assisting in the development of ” The Gods of War: The Darkness ” . In the design, Aterous fell to the underworld and fought with the “self” of many worlds, and the game contained elements of multi-person cooperation. However, the project was eventually cancelled in January 2025 because of the lack of effective integration of ideas and the fact that the blue dots known for traditional action games were not very good at such projects. The Blue Point studio then introduced a re-establishment of the highly appreciated ARPG Blood Curse in 2015. Over the years, there have been increasing calls from players for the re-programming and renewal of the Blood Curse. The prevailing view was that Sony, as the owner of IP, was a major impediment to the reformulation of FromSofware. However, according to information sources quoted by Bloomberg, Sony was interested in a new version of the Blood Curse, but From Software was reluctant and the proposal was abandoned.

The fate of the Blood Curse has long been pending, and many of those concerned have expressed contradictory views on it. In 2024, Director General FromSoftware, Yong-ho Miyazaki, stated that he “has no right to talk” about the re-formulation of the Blood Curse, as the game ip was not in the hands of FromSoftware. In an interview with Eurogamer at the time, he claimed that if the games were to be published on modern equipment, they would certainly be a big hit. Last year, the former president of Sony’s Interactive Entertainment, Yukio Yoshida, put forward a theory in KindaFunny’s show that might explain what happened to the Blue Point proposal: “The Blood Curse has been the most frequently asked by players. Players want to know why we keep hiding its snow, which should be easy for the blue dot studio, and they do so many successful regravings.” “I have only personal speculations about this, and I have left the first studio, so it is not clear what the situation is. But I suppose Mr. Miyazaki really loved his Blood Curse. So I think he’s interested, but the studio is busy, and he’s a man who doesn’t want others to take over. That’s my guess. The PlayStation team respected his wishes.”

The question remains: why does no one want to play this nameplate or to have a studio like Blue Dot work for them? FromSoftware is currently busy developing The Duskbloods, a “blood” style game for the Switch 2 host. As for the Blue Point studio, it was reported that prior to its closure by Sony, the subgenerational edition of Wanda and the Giantius and the derivatives of The Spirit of the Isle of Man were also presented. However, the leadership considered that the studio did not have the capacity to develop the game independently, nor did it find suitable opportunities for cooperation, which eventually closed down by Sony. According to Bloomberg, the company is currently negotiating to try to save the studio, but the results are unclear.
